Sugar Sugar!, Pine Market’s favorite candy store, has a new owner, new products and a colorful new look. For those that have yet to visit, the store is hosting a grand opening celebration throughout July that is packed with fun and surprises for candy lovers of all ages.
Real estate broker Andrea Curran visited Sugar Sugar in May. By June she had purchased the store.
“I wanted to take over the store because I could see the possibility of growing the brand,” Curran said. “It is a great concept and a wonderful location. I immediately knew when I visited for the first time that this was a fun project I wanted to take on.”
Curran said that while her family and friends may have thought she was being impulsive, she had a plan and wanted to get started right away.
“Sugar Sugar! is a fun opportunity to use my marketing resources and connections in a playful way,” she said. “It also has been such a joy to collaborate with my adult daughter, who is working as my marketing manager.”
The newly relaunched store features favorites such as sodas, a wall of bulk candy and Blue Bell ice cream. Many new products have been added, including decadent premium ice cream treats, gifts, locally made gourmet chocolate, locally made Half Baked Goodness cookies, toys and more.
The store also offers international and hard-to-find candies — including Swedish candy such as Bubs.
“We want to be a one-stop shop for our neighbors, whether they are looking for a treat, a gift or a pick-me-up,” Curran said. “My favorite thing to hear when someone walks in is ‘It’s so full in here!’ or ‘This looks so different!’”
Curran said her favorite candy by far is the traditional toffee in their specialty case. It is made locally by a second-generation chocolate maker, and she is honored to carry their products.
In addition to sweet treats, the store plans to host events such as a story and craft hour for children. There are plans to partner with area schools for spirit nights, and Curran said goodie bag and candy buffet services are on the way. The store has also implemented the Sugarbits Loyalty Program. Participants earn points with every purchase and can redeem them for delicious discounts and exclusive rewards.
Curran said what makes Sugar Sugar! truly special is the people that walk through their door.
“It has been a treat to get to know the community better, and I look forward to growing those relationships,” she said. “Additionally, our employees are our local ‘candy experts’ and love helping introduce our neighbors to the hottest candy trends. We have candy you cannot find anywhere else around. We’re excited to be part of the Montgomery community and create a magical, welcoming environment filled with joy and fun! This is a brand-new Sugar Sugar! Stop by and check it out!"
